The supercell is better for tools with small dust ports, the clear Vue is better for the large tools with big or multiple dust ports. I inherited a Dust collector, PSI Tempest TEMP14xx I think. I am pondering either the Oneida V3000 or the ClearVue CV1800 or CVMax. The 1.5 horse dust collector is more than efficient and collects down to 1 micron with a blast gates at each machine. For me, this dust collector right now will only be for my Sawstop table saw, miter saw, and eventually a Hammer A3-41 jointer/planer. Hope your setup goes well ! I have come to the realization Im not doing a good job with my shop vac collecting dust. UNLIMITED membership - Get access to it all. Even the air/dust separation was comparable in my tests, and I figured that CV would have some advantage there. I would highly recomend that you either design this on your own very carefully or have someone design it for you (preferably be on site). The CFM at the end of my longest runs (50ft) averages just over 500, which I think is pretty good for the static pressure in the long runs. The cone reduced air speed and some chips and dust remained. The CV, on the other hand, moves as much air (more than mine, it has the smaller 14" impeller) separates much better due to the internal air ramp, squared sloped inlet, and dimensional correctness per Pentz. It still works, but the new Vortex is just a huge improvement. The overhead pipe might have been nice, but a had to go around a triple laminated beam which would have added four 45 degree els to the pipe and been a pain to plumb on a 9 ft ceiling. Oneida's DC's are built like a tank (at least the older ones were), but in my opinion most other attributes favor the CV. Just get a flexible hose or two and some quick connect 4" attachments to use at each machine. I switched from an Oneida SDG to a CV1800, so that should clarify my opinion between the 2. My guess is that all the vendors will give you a 10% discount if you pressure them, some will just do it right off the bat (I had one out of 3 that I contacted give me the 10% off with the initial quote with out asking). If the Oneida is really only 74 DB (as reported by Oneida) at 10 ft it might be possible to live with that but even then I know that would get annoying to listen to for 10 minutes after I turned on the saw for one cut. Different wood requires different woodworking strategies - from cutting to finishing. The motor on the Tempest has specs and a diagram to go from 220 to 110V. Thank Fred. I have it in the corner of my basement shop area. You won't have enough room in your shop to move the unit around. I used KB duct (cheaper than Nordfab) but experience showed me that the Nordfab clamps are better so used them with the KB ducting. Good luck. I am happy for the most part but was disappointed in a number of aspects from the sale to the delivery. I'm still undecided but all the responses have given me much to research and consider.

I have an Excalibur overarm guard on the saw, and it will suck the insert up. 15 planner is biggest chip maker connected and V3000 easily handles it without an issue. Once again, Dad was right. Comment about the noise; I have my DC in a well insulated closet in my shop. I would try to connect as many of the machines to dust collection as you can manage since moving suction hoses around as you change machines is a pain. If you have the budget, I recommend the Oneida Supercell. Following up on my earlier post on this topic. Ive seen and read some negative things about both but more concerning reviews with ClearVue. :) I started with a hose that I moved around with DC then parked DC under stair landing and drug hose around. I A cyclone itself is really a drag on that movement, so for the same CFM, cyclones will generally have to have a larger motor/fan to overcome that drag. I have an older Super Dust Gorilla and very happy but am jealous of your new machine with the increased suck. So, will the 2.5/3 HP models do as well.probably, but there are so many factors involved it's hard to say. My father used to tell me that "it never costs to go first class, it pays". If that is not something you are interested in doing then maybe the clear Vue isn't the right choice. I wish I could vent outside, it would solve all of my current complaints with my Oneida. This is a one-person shop, 20x30 ft, and the main tools are (1) table saw, (2) radial arm saw, (3) chop saw, (4) Dewalt 12" planer, (5) shaper, and (6-10) various hand-held power tools - all to be used one-at-a-time, and all have dust ports that are 4" or less.
Id also like to rig this up for a hood or downdraft table for sanding.Im a bit torn on what company to go with here Oneida or ClearVue. I have a similar shop to you. I can do a review in a few months if theres interest, but just a highlight. Im not entirely sure it was worth it yet to be perfectly honest. If I did, I'd just stick with what I have. If you wait Grizzly sends out 10% off occassionally, but the vendor matched/beat that deal for me. I don't have time to fiddle with hoses. I should add, I regularly get bashed for peeing on the Oneida name, so I'll add that all of this is just my opinion. . well, i guess i bought myself a nice b-day present Congrats Al, there is no doubt in my mind you will be happy with your purchase. My jointer is at a right angle to the saw. So, if you vent outside you really have to worry about separationonly getting sufficient airflow to capture the fine dust.
Ive had a CV1800 and currently have an Oneida DG 5 HP. Im leaning towards the flexibility of using Norfab or equivalent QF piping as I seem to move things around.I currently have a router, table saw, bench top planer, and miter saw (with out a permanent station). I work with metal and starting to work more with wood so space is a factor. For me, 7 years of use and the cyclone unit shows no wear. My test so far have consisted of some light use, but I did connect this to my bandsaw which is a Grizzly 17, with two 4 ports. Terms of Service
The hose tucks under the extension table along with the collector. I suppose I could have used a section of hose for that, but I questioned the effectiveness of pulling dust and chips through that.
