I tried no 19 after having used no 19 poudr for a long time. The EDP is deeper and more voluptuous. Pity. It's dense and has way more green galbanum than Poudre, but it has citruses and powder from the iris. I believe that this longevity and sillage used to be way better (and it definetely could be for the official retail price) but I'm Ok with it as it is and hope that it won't get any worse now I feel I'm ready to wear this fragrance exclusively for a few months I find it so exciting and unique. I love it because it smells like me. It can be best described as a sharper, grassier version of 19 poudr. This is a tricky lady for sure and I love her to bits.

Often, I make impulsive purchases at first sniff - and five dates down, they're in the relegated bag! The EdT is actually greener and a bit more nuanced; I actually felt I could detect amyris and even dihydroanethol in a tiny amount, both green-colouring elements in a composition. It feels icy clean, cool and empowering. Oh please do, get a small sample if not sure, but there is a reason you will love this. I adore this fragrance. RSS. 852-21108642

I love the edt for its sharpness, but this is more voloptuous, somewhat warmer. Now, I love that initial green blast and how it acts as a balance to the classic floral notes. 40 years later i still love it, so nostalgic! I just wasn't experienced enough with fragrances and my nose hadn't developed enough. @ Christian Caggiano I definitely agree with you being a man and wearing N19 too. I am heart broken about Chanel 19.

It certainly isn't bad, but it's very powdery.

To me, galbanum was not an issue, as I could immediately imagine the yellow flower from my childhood, and the smell it projected when we tore or smashed its leaves. You can wear it everywhere and with any clothes.

This is a tale of pure, unadulterated plant life splendid but fragile, and often fleeting.

What I do get are aldehydes, albeit a little strong at first, but they give way to the oakmoss and iris. My true love. The opening is freshly cut green, green, healthy grass. I adore this perfume.

The florals are there in the beginning, the dry down definitely strong oakmoss, leather and big Vetiver, smells like Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I don't know why I waited so long to get it..but when I heard there could be a possibility of it being discontinued I knew I had to have it just in case. Yes.

This an coco are the only chanels that appeal to me so far. () This is so beautiful!

Eyes rolling into the back of my head, oh gorgeous heavenly beauty! It is the epitome of Springtime. In any case, it's utterly divine. This won't be for everyone but those who are looking for something that is different from most perfumes on the market should check this out. I have only ever owned one other Chanel fragrance (Allure), which was lovely but for some reason owning #19 makes me feel like I have entered a whole new level of "maturity" with my perfume obsession. Chanel 19 EDT is what I wore all through college and through a good part of my 20s. remember to wait for it. There's also a metallic smell that wasn't there before. I'm a makeup artist and I cannot begin to tell you how many ladies I work with that wear Chanel No. Until I tried Chanel 19. I'm so glad that I got to know No 19.

I've found most Chanel perfumes old lady smelling and/or overwhelming when I was younger, but I grew to love most of them. Not as timeless, for me, as No 5 EDP, but still nice and classic enough to pull off anytime. I wold give up a whole host of others to have these in my wardrobe at all times. In fact, on my skin it doesn't skew masculine at all but is powdery, feminine, and serious. His description of this fragrance as a heartless wire mother made me hesitate for years to buy it, even though all the notes seemed to add up to something I would adore. I see the parfum is sold out too. When I first got into green fragrances I hated them and just put them to the side. Intensely sharp and dry and green, with the earthy, rootsy powderiness of iris, the acrid verdancy of galbanum, and vetivers leathery grassy woodiness, and that sour metallic tang and bitter effervescence that I always attribute to old costume jewelry; note-wise, Im not sure where that comes from, but it seems to be a hallmark of these classic fragrances. I love how this perfume dries down. The fragrance is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. During the pandemic, it was hard to find, so I bought two bottles of the current formulation when it came back in stock. Green and mossy and musty with plenty of iris. : 7, Fragrantica in your language: The marvel of this scent is its gloomy luminosity, how it's both austere and achingly tender at the same time. The vetiver and oak moss dance around the edges, sparkles of sunlight on a spring day. : 4,004 I'm still pondering if I prefer this or the Poudr version, but I can say that this is just a perfect office scent. Number 19 in the name refers to the birth date of Coco Chanel, August 19.

I'm a guy and i just bought this after reading a lot of reviews and checking it out at local store - OMG I am in love with this fragrance, cant stop smelling my wrists, so beautiful, I just feel connected and delicious and so good wearing it, its definitely fresh and green and to start but then with time the underlying creamy leathery mossy goodness takes over and is just intoxicating. On the right skin, however, this is a very fresh and elegant woody floral. 7/10. It meets all expectations from a scent. I recommend you to smell the Chanel 19 perfume in the rectangle bottle with the grey cap if you'd like a more masculine version. So complex. Something went wrong. This one is still pretty feminine! A beautiful green scent. SO green and classy! English, Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . I think I'll test it again soon and see if I can get this version to grow on me. It makes me sit up straighter, talk softer, think kind thoughts, and it actually makes me want to carry my very best handbag! I am a man and I wear this. I fortunately was able to pick up a vintage version of the cologne splash. Though I haven't smelled the original which I need to find, this seems good enough for the moment.

Though this perfume version is not what it once was, it still made me nostalgic for this scent. Buy it online BIG SALE on or Many items for sale on, Perfume rating4.19out of5 with5,312 votes. It opens with a fresh and bitter note but quickly settles into a fresh, green, slightly floral fragrance.

Ive since bought it in all its versions, including the Parfum, and although still a nice smell..it has lost its beating heart and soul. My wife always keeps her 50ml EDP in her handbag so I have an EDP sample. I always had trouble with them, particularly with the bitterness of galbanum. But then I have to remind myself that I dont have to be an expert or a guru or ensconced in academia or have years of scholarship under my belt in order to share my thoughts on something so profoundly subjective as fragrance. An ultra green/wood/floral, its blend of ingredients work in perfect harmony. Effortless & chic is how I feel with this one. Oakmoss and vetiver all in equal measure mixed to provide us with a true classic that could have been worn by royalty but also by cool businesswomen and professionals since its introduction in 1970. It opens with some dry grass and horse piss smell (I'm so sorry, but I pick up these smells), but even that phase is strangely addictive.

Far from cruel, I find this stunningly natural. It is borderline unisex in my opinion but personally, I can't imagine this on my husband.

For lover of this then if your but get is Limits then go for silences by jacomo. Very cool, icy, chic. 19 is a classic of the genre.

It's a pretty girl, but not a beautiful girl.

And I love how it stays quite sharp for such a long time before it reaches that soft powdery floral, which BTW is the other thing that I adore about this perfume. Forever a classic. toilette No top notes, no fresh greenness. I'm awaiting for a reply from Chanel, having sent them a direct message. Oftentimes, we do say "why anything else but Chanel?" Maybe Covid has interfered with production but Chanel are working on making it available. The only complaint i have is that for the price it is not sufficient for me that the sillage only lasts for a few hours, then it stays a skin scent for a long time. Unfortunately, I cannot wear Chanel No.5. I bought two bottles and have been wearing it for 3 years.

La note d'iris est tellement belle que je voudrais qu'elle perdure jamais.

As it dries down the mossy notes and earthy scents makes you smell and feel fresh, clean, and beautiful. My first post here.

19 is definitely galbanum + ionones + (some) vetiver base. The fact that this fragrance exists at that price proves that a lot of niche "luxury" houses raise their prices just cause they can.

Its not for a younger lady who prefers a sweeter or more girlish approach to a warm weather fragrance. What in the world has happened to this classic green fragrance? So so so beautiful. As it dries down it starts to loose its dewiness and becomes more dry and powdery. Fleeting performance.

It makes me feel a deep nostalgia and melancholic longing for something that never was, for a past I never lived. It is totally unisex. But after having experienced it I believe anyone can wear it. I'm always on the lookout for long-lasting spring/summer fragrances as the climate in my city gets super warm and nothing seems to last all day.

It knows what it is and it's awesome, no apologies, so deal. It works with any weather and any clothes. Got the 80s formulation as I was disappointed by how emaciated the current one is. Smelling like the water of a enchanted green pond, sharp green leaves and leather, Chanel N.19 both edt and edp are in a league of their own; green, cold, cool, super chic and yet the green mossy leathery tone makes them wild and timeless. 19 is the most a breathtakingly green fresh scent ever.

the best green scent for me, Ever! Prominent green/grassy opening notes that make me think of a fresh cut flower stems. After all, it is such a privilege to live here.

Wearing it feels so pampering, it adds an element of luxury to the day and helps me feel comfortable in my own skin. For 3 decades now I was looking for my one and only fragrance.

A true gem. The initial greenness is interesting, bordering on too much, but delicate enough to enjoy it and definitely a breath of fresh air among the plastic candy of today's popular scents. NO doubt in my mind.. My mom used to say she wore Halston.

5, but decided to give it a try based on the indicated notes and since I didn't have any Chanel in my collection. If falls just short of paradise which has led me to search other perfumes but short of Coco Noir, which is very similar, nothing quite makes it. It's like they all leave the same trace that screams "hey, I'm wearing Chanel. Lovely oldstyle perfume which has a perfect blend of slightly warm ambery powder notes and green/floral notes that sing together. As usual, the Chanel base is apparent, well-made and coherent.

Opening is feminine, dry down unisex. Very pleased with my impulse purchase. This fragrance has been sold out for about 6-8 month's now at least and hasn't come back in stock since on the US website. Does anybody know if this beauty is going to be discontinnued? I know this sounds super weird here but this is how I felt recently.

I warn you though, if you like it, you'll end up loving it.

None of the stores where I live carry it, so I blind bought it based on the note listing. This should be a near-perfect scent for me, though Ill say I have a tough time finding a green that stays but doesnt smell like a highly peppered vetiver man. Happy birthday Coco! The juice is still good and its magnificent! It misses the sweetness and softness and is mostly harsh. FragranticaFragrantica, : 73,877 Do I need it?

This has been my love since forever.

But this girl is NOT to be messed with. And it gets lovelier the longer it stays on your skin. What can you say, Chanel always. caselizas perfectly illustrates what is lovely about this fragrance. A hint of the old perfume is still there, but it's much lighter and not quite as natural smelling as it used to be. The smell of this is gorgeous, like an earth princess walking through the forest. Id be very disappointed if Id purchased it online, hoping for the mythical magic of vintage formulations. So many things these days smell very 'synthetic', or 'chemical' for want of better descriptives (yes we all know all this stuff is chemicals really) but this smells fresh outdoorsy & good for you, as opposed to plasticised n tooth rottingly sweet. In comparison to something like no 5. "Limited edition" EDP, 2 years old: At the end of the day, this just isn't what it should be.

I also tested the dry down on paper as I wore it on my skin and the outputs were a bit different with the paper dry down remaining linearly cold, green, and bitter for a lengthy period of time. I am still not sure if I would be able to wear this perfume, but I do know that it is a classic. After all this time I checked back to see if finally they would be in stock and it's still sold out. It's not that it's an unpleasant smell, it's just so hard to pinpoint a single note in it that my nose gets confused. It is not in your face and will not turn heads, but it is a timeless, dependable classic.

It was written by Tania Sanchez: She later told an interviewer she probably should have awarded it five stars. I sniffed it, loved it (again), and since then Ive been wearing it every day.

. Ill start by saying that I only just discovered this website and am fairly new to the world of fragrance.

What can I say about this beauty. This is really good, like a vintage greenish mossy earthy scent for an everyday use but also if you want and can for a night time as well. Green, woody, floral perfection. I managed to find a 100ml bottle in a local chemist after my post. I went for 19 Poudre and I left with 19 eau de toilette! This is a beautifully composed fragrance from a great house.

I wear it when I go out during the day.

I Almost never wear it, and When i do, im dissapointed. No. I cant imagine a situation, season or time of day where 19 is not suitable. I have read many words of praise for this classic perfume but it somehow renders them futile, such is its perfection and beauty.

I also have the EDT version which is closer to the original formulation (this is what the salesperson told me). I can't find any online stockist in the UK where it is available. The Parfum, Eau De Toilette, and Eau De Parfum are still in production. It used to be all as described but mostly, a warm fragrance. Warm and cozy, earthy, flowery, woody and lots of beautiful powdery layers. Classy and green. Become a member of this online perfume community and you will be able to add your own reviews.

Is there any other perfume more refreshing and green?

@janey53, I contacted Chanel about whether No 19 EDP has been discontinued and it hasnt been thank goodness. Not a hint of anything green. It is a subtle perfume I can't place.

Soapy, clean, crisp. Especially with Chanel, Dior & many other high ends. This is what I refer to when comparing chypre fragrances. It will leave you with a soft, woody scent at the end of the day. Top notes: green notes and bergamot. I swear, sometimes I think LT writes an essay just to enjoy his own snark. On me however, it's pure rosewater. Gasp!!

It took me a long time to finish it. It is exquisite. SO misunderstood. It smells so fresh and green, yet so elegant and not so cliched like a lot of other "crisp" fragrances. This perfume lasts all day with good sillage. Everything here is so deftly executed, so marvelously well blended and balanced. This, however, hits all the right spots! So. This is not a super girly perfume but I like it that way. I'm not a chanel fan.non of chanel perfumes that I had, passed a simple like(coco mademoiselle, coco noir, chance edt and edp, chance eau vibe). 19.

I thought perhaps it was masculine and wouldn't quite translate to my more feminine palette.

I am a man and I wear this daily. I took a 5 year hiatus from fragrances and when i bought a bottle again, i feel the remnants of its original is still therebut barely. I am American too, albeit, not by blood, but by privilege. 5? It really is.

this is a scent timeless. If you like green perfumes, this is a master piece - very well blended, complex and sophisticated. Then it dries down to the most beautiful, floral-green scent I've ever smelled. It is a unique blend of light-heartedness and sophistication, not simply a different concentration, but an olfactory reinterpretation, which is faithful to the spirit and base notes of the original composition. Sharp, glorious green and gorgeous. I LOVE this scent. 5, but with floral on top and cologne, musk and spicy clove underneath.

It is certainly the type of perfume that would be appropriate all year round, but I love this perfume in autumn and winter when I think iris smells wonderful. Oh boy, do I just love Chanel! For anyone who was curious about current formulations. 5/5.

It isn't a cold goddess, she can never be cold, she is the one to understand that everything comes and goes, each element is chasing the next one in the circle of life. It's so unusual, I'm not sure about it.

However, Guerlain is the answer to that question for me.

So if you do want this one I would advise if you know somewhere that has it to get it.

Lasts all day on me. On several occasions and 2 of them women's working on chanel perfume counters so well worth a go at only 30. If you happen to have Mon Guerlain Florale (now discontinued), spray No.19 EDP on top of it and enjoy. I wore this beauty in my late teens and early 20's, and I loved it then. I have tried out other fragrances with similar notes, like iris which can sometimes smell old-ladyish, yet in other compositions it can present itself as a really feminine smell, or give a perfume a more modern vibe. Starts more green and powdery. The dry down is still green, some hints of flowers, yet it's creamy (idk why I think of this word, but it does) and powdery. I'm so glad that I did that because now I adore this fragrance. It smells like cigarettes on my skin, I tried to like it but I can't. A bit colder than the Poudre obvs, more of a spring summer scent. Chanel No 19 Eau de Parfum by Chanel is a Floral Green fragrance for women. ChanelChanel No 19 Eau de Parfum , ; , , , ; , , .

Its been a learning curve but after a few months I finally understand how to wear this. This is still a really beautiful composition, but to my nose and for my taste, once again, it smells dated, I think this is an elegant all year round fragrance for anytime of the day, really complex and perfect for someone with a different taste to mine. I absolutely adore the sharp green opening, which to me smells like galbanum but it's apparently not. A pleasant bitterness in the middle. More floral and ladylike than the edt.

it is a masterpiece and yes, it reminds me of Love EDP- Chloe, as it settles down.

The opening can be taken as slightly bitter for some, but I get a beautiful green scent mixed with an intoxicating and fresh quality that smells so elegant. No 19 was made for her!

I'll be gutted if I can't buy this beauty anymore. 19 generates two distinct images in my mind. 19 that I purchased about 30 years ago, was an EDP.

My mistake.

After the dry-down, I get classy leather notes that smell like a luxurious leather bag.

It's definitely much older than me (being 14, and a boy) but I can't help loving older scents. I got Chanel No 19 Poudre first before No 19 because I knew I wasn't ready for it and I wasn't. But no, it was this. I have a particular love for green scents, and No. I love the whole transformation of this scent from the sharp opening to the powdery and soft drydown. love this, layered with Prada's Infusion Iris.exquisite!!!! Top notes are Green Notes, Bergamot and Neroli; middle notes are iris, Rose, Narcissus, Lily-of-the-Valley and Ylang-Ylang; base notes are oak moss, Vetiver, Leather and Sandalwood. Once targeted to women, today absolutely unisex, in my opinion. But, alas, not the one I am looking for. Or during sunny spring days, white/blue shirt and casual jeans I`m not a particularly girly man and I wear this from time to time.

Fresh yet complex it is as easy to wear in the day as well as the evening and exudes class. It has similarities to "male" perfumes. I'm sure Wonderwoman wears this when she's off duty :) It's such an empowering, no-nonsense scent: fresh, super green and a bit powdery. perfect entirely after an hour. Or maybe I don't "get" it, who knows. Clean, classic, soft but has enough depth. It may have it's dupes, but there really is nothing that can compare to the original, Chanel No 19 edp. The first notes are sharp and citrusy, almost metallic but this after time settles into a creamy floral, predominantly of iris and rose notes with powdery lime top notes.

Give it about 15 to 30 minutes to develop..On my top 5 shelf now! It still gets me every time.

Anyway, if you are looking for an iris and not for the greenery, you really should try before you buy. The initial spray is powdery, but then develops into a clean, fresh, musky vetiver. The green is neither grass nor leaves nor tea - kind of unspecific but skillfully blended and never flat.

This is a great price, yet smells so natural, so detailed, so intricate and high quality.

A very, very dry powder with smooth, deep green notes. She was nothing like the perfume people talked about. Im super super happy! Reminds me of my childhood that way. Un parfum Chanel c'est toujours chic. Have you noticed the prices go up as the water percentage goes UP? I will give the EDT a try, perhaps that will be what I'm looking for. I dont dare read any other reviews of Chanel no. That crispiness that can be pure perfection can just as easily turn into something crumbeling. I hope Chanel will keep it forever and not alter it. For me this is symbol of Chanel elegance. And I was lucky it suits my skin perfectly (in time, I came, like all of us, across perfumes that did not sit well on my skin, although I loved them on paper or other people).

Not that it's not compatible with other seasons, but to me the iris blend has a summery vibe. Im wearing Chanel No.19 Eau de Parfum, in memory of her, the one who started it all. Oh my giddy aunt, the love, the total crippling love!!

No.

Really luxurious, and there's nothing like it. I wish it stayed as it is for the first hour or so: wet, green and fresh! My bottle is current a formulation, with Evernia Prunastri (Oakmoss) listed on the back. I can imagine a calm woman wearing this on a spring morning. - doesn't matter. Best green fragrance for sure. Without doubt, this would have to be the greenest fragrance I have ever encountered. Chanel didn't disappoint me with this one. Once it dries down and that metallic note fades, there's a similarity to the vintage version. They are all pure perfection. N19819N5N191970N5, 19702013, Thierry Mugler Come Together , FiFi Awards 1973 +, N.19N.519, No. To me, this is 100% feminine, its not unisex, but this is a grown up, no bs sort of woman who knows herself, yet she's very elegant and her energy will most definitely arouse and capture you.

This is a wonderful fragrance for spring.

Don't know if this is to control sales, financial issues, supply chain getting worse to meet demands, or it's just not a high seller. Beautiful bitter galbanum, paired with a powdery, sentimental Iris. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy.

I have a new batch and have no idea how this used to smell and perform originally. The best of both worlds!

It is spring for me, it is riding a bike in the morning, it is flowers that are hiding behind a curtain of thin leather. The iris is similar to Poudre but not as intense. 19 is a masterpiece, one I am so glad I now know how to appreciate. She is the female boss you hate yet envy. And guess what? lasts 2&1/2 hours for me. Glad to see that its now back in stock with most retailers. Opens green, dewy and bitter. One thing I will say is that I do not like the body lotion the sharp opening notes seem to linger and to me it ruins this beautiful perfume. And it is so so so beautiful, delicate, but still charismatic! My EDP seems to perform very well! Ill tell you that I adore this scent. I tried this on and on my skin all I smell is the inside of a leather cosmetic bag. This is by far more woody and less sweet/gourmand/childish compared to current releases. 19 isn't for me.

Even though we do know she wore some others. (3)() The scent opens with a burst of intoxicating green scents that are so fresh and clean. This is unique. Very classy but for me also has a natural feeling, whether it is or not don't care. Chanel No. The green liquid in the iconic square Chanel bottle gives me joy, and the perfume smells even better. I can understand that it can't be that high it was just ten years ago, but now this and Poudr last so short that they should cost 20 euros since they have been so watered down, and even N5, that has resins and amber inside that usually are longlasting notes has lost power and depth. I purchased a 50mL bottle in May, deciding not to use it too much because of the large price tag. As a (young) teenager, forking CAD 38 for a 50 ml of EDT was pretty extravagant, but I was back at the perfume counter with my money the following day. The is so perfect, I think I might dare I really like this over No 5. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. Then the magic starts to happen but its still not quite what I wanted, but you know what, girls got to do what theyve got to do Ive got it cause deep inside I had a feeling on my skin it will be glorious!

Very wearable in all seasons, it never gives me headache even in the hot summer. Today somehow it doesnt fit at all. Wearing Chanel No19 EDP can makes you feel elegant, fresh and sensuous: like slipping on an olive-green silk camisole; it caresses your skin and your senses, making you feel joyful to be alive. Would you say this dry down is more green or powdery? EDT is more sophisticated but still fresh, not as green and crisp as EDT. I have received numerous compliments. I had the silver refillable upright rectangular one with the chanel logo on the lid in gold. 19, I was convinced this was the next fragrance that I had to have, in my never-ending quest for the perfect green fragrance. I get wafts of it and it is so comforting in a restrained and stoic way.

While this starts to get more floral and feminine, it never loses its edge and that very bitter green galbanum note persists from start to finish. I also had the perfume, which was greener and sharper, and not quite as leathery/ oakmoss as the EDT on the dry down.

whoever those rich women are whose men built America.

I have never smelled anything like this perfume and I highly recommend getting a sample or decant because it is worth checking out even if it is outside of your comfort zone. After the reformulation, it is now a cold, standoff'ish, aloof scent and it breaks my heart because it has lost its warm soul. Chanel no 19 Is like a meadow of lilies shrouded in fog, of iris and rose and dew and a dense and woody canopy of green an elusive symphony weaved by balance.

If you want to be recognized and remembered by a classy, unique and beautiful fragrance, this is it - the unbeatable queen of all green fragrances of this world.

Its the ultimate sophisticated green scent fragrance for ladies. I just realized I have this love affair for chypre fragrances. I absolutely love this pefume. After 30 minutes, it dries down to a skin scent, the oakmoss blends beautifully with lots of iris, the vetiver gives the fragrance some dryness and depth, and even though I really enjoy perfumes with an oakmoss note, further in the drydown, this smells dated.
